Unsecured Credit

What it means

Credit extended without collateral. Most credit cards and personal loans are unsecured: the lender has no specific asset to claim if you default. Because there is no collateral, unsecured credit usually takes a higher credit score to qualify and may carry higher interest rates than secured credit.
